Andrew Black

Andrew Black is one of the rising vocalists - songwriters - guitarists - performers of the new blues generation. Having seasoned his skills with the likes of Derek Trucks, Barry Richman, and Chicago Bob Nelson, he is now a member of the McDonald Victor Black band.
Andrew was born in Minneapolis, MN, July 17, 1969. Andrew's grandfather, Fred Wyatt, was a vocalist with the famous Platters. Like it was for his grandfather, singing was an early passion for Andrew, who started crooning at the ripe old age of four. He started playing piano when he was six and picked up the trumpet when he was ten. By the time he was a teenager he was playing the guitar in local bands. It didn't take long before he formed his own band Andrew Black and the Believers and made a name for himself in Atlanta, GA.
Andrew first performed with Forrest in the summer of 2001 when Dave Parnell a member of the 3-D Blues band had a heart attack. Forrest‚s called Andrew to step into Dave‚s spot and he never missed a beat. Shortly thereafter Andrew could be seen performing with Forrest and Raymond Victor all over the US festival circuit. After the King Biscuit festival in October 2002 Forrest decided to rename the band to the MVB band.
Some of Andrews influences are Albert King, George Benson, Albert Collins, Robben Ford, Prince, and Stevie Wonder.

Andrew Black is now a major talent in the world blues scene today.
